Main objective of the Board &Train Program (B/T) is to have CPC professionally train/rehabilitate your dog for you first,

then teach you to maintain your dog's high level of training afterwards - this is a 'lifetime' program

Board & Train dogs and CPC dogs performing the 'wait' in the exercise yard

SORRY, NO DROP OFF, PICK UP or SEND HOME LESSONS ON WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS

ALWAYS Call and talk to a trainer BEFORE heading out to Drop Off or Pick Up your dog from CPC!

303-995-0132

There is a strict 48 hour cancellation policy for ALL board and train programs, no exceptions!

Sorry, no Giant dog breeds, such as Great Dane or Mastiff dogs - they don't fit through CPC's giant doggy door!

(Note: There will be an extra charge to have CPC train/handle your dog on the right side)

*** If your dog is not TOTALLY house-broken he/she cannot stay at CPC! ***

Dogs that live outdoors 24/7 can go potty whenever and wherever they want are not considered housebroken. Sorry!

  •  Main objectives of the B/T...

  1. To professionally train/rehabilitate your dog for you; personalized and customized to meet your family's specifications.

  2. To teach you to reinforce and maintain your dog's new and high level of training.

  3. To ensure that your dog will maintain a consistent level of thinking, rather than just reacting to each situation at hand.

  4. To develop a stable, balanced and calm dog that is easy to control in any situation and a pleasure to live with.

  •  Advantages of the B/T over other programs...

    Time:

  1. Many dog owners simply do not have the time required to effectively and reliably train and/or rehabilitate their own dog.

  2. CPC has the time, 24/7, to train your dog for you in about 28 days. Training your own dog can take many months, even one year or more, since you have to learn first.

  3. Private and group follow up lessons for you go much faster, since your dog is already trained. Only 3 to 5 private lessons are usually necessary before starting group classes.

  4. Graduation from CPC happens much faster if your dog is pre-trained for you.

    Consistent, daily training:

  1. Regular and consistent training/rehabilitation is critical for effective results and is sometimes difficult to obtain while running a household, too.

  2. Repetition forms habit. Good habits and behaviors are reinforced on a daily basis at CPC, then transferred to your home.

  3. The training environment is friendly, not ominous to the dogs. Training/rehabilitation must be fun for your dog if he/she is to excel.

  4. At CPC, there are several rehabilitated pack members (dogs) that will heavily influence your dog(s) to relax and become balanced and calm.

Faster learning in a new environment:

  1. Your dog will be more receptive to new procedures in an unfamiliar atmosphere.

  2. Once your dog has learned to obey and be calm while surrounded by dogs and other distractions at CPC you will find that it is much easier to keep his attention in everyday situations.

  3. Both dog and owner can be easily distracted in a group class. Concentration is a must when trying to achieve the highest level of obedience/control.

  4. In-home training works for some, but both dog and owner tend to be a little too 'comfortable' and are often unable to concentrate fully. Also, many dogs are over protective of their owners and/or territory and simply cannot focus on training during even the smallest distraction, therefore, often requiring harsh corrections or food, which are both unreliable forms of training.

  •  What's included with the B/T?

  1. Dog Boarding: In a home environment, not a boarding kennel. Your dog will receive much more human interaction at CPC than in a boarding kennel environment.

  2. Dog Training: 14 commands with the Basic Obedience program (7 commands with the Aggression Rehabilitation program) both verbally and with hand signals.

  3. Off-leash Dog Training: If your dog is capable he/she will be trained reliably off-leash within the B/T period. (Off-leash training is NOT a guarantee)

  4. Canine Behavior Modification: Any and all behavior modification and/or conditioning that may be necessary for your dog. Available with any program.

  5. Care: 24 hour in-home and emergency care of your dog, unlike boarding facilities where the kennel technicians leave at night.

  6. Feeding: Your dog will be fed his or her own dry food and supplements at no extra charge, unlike boarding facilities that charge extra to feed your dog its own food. (Certain raw foods will not be fed)

  7. Medications: Any medications will be administered at no extra charge. Most boarding facilities charge extra to administer medications.

  8. Training Packet: You will receive a detailed training packet the day you drop your dog off for training. You will have the entire month to memorize it.

  9. Send Home Lesson: You will receive a 2 hour send home lesson the day your dog goes home.

  10. Follow Up Lessons: Unlimited private and group follow up lessons for owners, for the life of the dog. (no group class without privates first)

  11. (SORRY, NO DROP OFF or PICK UP on WEEKENDS or HOLIDAYS)

  •  Critical Requirements...

    • The Board and Train program is for serious clients only.

    • Critical Vaccinations Required

Written proof is mandatory and must be emailed or faxed BEFORE your dog is delivered to CPC. Email to DogPsychology101@gmail.com or Fax to 303-816-9436.

YOUR DOG WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR TRAINING WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION FAXED OR EMAILED AHEAD OF TIME - IF YOU SHOW UP WITH YOUR DOG FOR TRAINING AND CPC HAS NOT ALREADY RECEIVED THE PROOF OF VACCINATIONS PRIOR TO THIS DATE YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY - NO EXCEPTIONS!

      1. A) Distemper

      2. B) Bordatella   (veterinarians are now suggesting Bordatella is given every six months, regardless if your dog is going to be in a boarding kennel or not)

      3. C) Rabies   (you must show proof of current, official Rabies certificate - Rabies tag is also requested, but not mandatory)

      4. Vaccinations can cause listlessness, fatigue and sometimes subtle illness in animals. Please don't wait until the last minute to get your dog properly vaccinated.

      5. If your dog requires vaccinations before the training, please try to get this done at least five (5) days prior to dropping your dog off at CPC, so your dog is completely back to normal before training begins.

      6. If your dog has been placed on any kind of 'doggie downer' or other mind altering medication by your veterinarian, please have your vet contact Suzi at CPC (303-995-0132) to discuss this important issue, as training results will not be genuine with a dog that is not in a natural state.

      7. Nosodes will NOT be accepted as a form of vaccination replacement for the board and train program. (No vaccination is 100% effective, nor are nosodes. In fact, nosodes do not produce titers against diseases like a usual vaccination would, so they are not vaccine replacements. I have been giving my animals the vaccinations required/offered for my entire life, whether for cats, dogs or horses and have seen no adverse side effects, ever. In my opinion, nosodes are kind of like herbal remedies for humans. Meaning that the synthetic drugs and vaccinations used to treat and prevent diseases and other illnesses work very quickly and are usually very effective, whereas the herbal equivalents need to be taken for MUCH longer periods of time before they will do their job, if they ever do.)

    • Proof of Clean Fecal Sample Required

Written proof is mandatory and must be emailed or faxed BEFORE your dog is delivered to CPC. Email to DogPsychology101@gmail.com or Fax to 303-816-9436.

YOUR DOG WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR TRAINING WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION FAXED OR EMAILED AHEAD OF TIME - IF YOU SHOW UP WITH YOUR DOG FOR TRAINING AND CPC HAS NOT ALREADY RECEIVED THE PROOF OF CLEAN FECAL SAMPLE PRIOR TO THIS DATE YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY - NO EXCEPTIONS!

      1. The fecal exam should be done 10 to 15 days, prior to your dog's stay at CPC. If you wait until the last minute and it turns out that your dog's stool is not clean CPC will not accept your dog for boarding and/or training until another fecal sample is tested and you are able to provide proof that it is clean.

      2. If your dog has parasites, some medications can take up to 10 days to work fully.

      3. Your dog must be free of fleas and other parasites, both internal and external, before staying at CPC

      4. You will be financially responsible if you dog infects/infests any other dogs at CPC.

      5. Simply take a pea-sized piece of your dog's fresh stool to your veterinarian and ask for a fecal panel to be done to rule out Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, Hookworm, etc.

    • Other Very Important Information

      1. It is recommended that you and your dog attend a Private Evaluation Lesson prior to thinking about a board and train program, so CPC can better evaluate your dog's needs and learn your preferences.

      2. Your dog MUST be dropped off for training between 9am to 12 noon ONLY! This rule is strictly adhered to! The reason for this is that your dog needs more than just a couple of hours at CPC to settle in and get used to the trainer and the routine around CPC before being placed into a kennel for bedtime. If you cannot get your dog to CPC between 9am and 12 noon, please Contact CPC to schedule another day. No dogs will be taken in on Sundays or holidays.

      3. Only dogs from 7 months to 10 years of age will be accepted. This requirement is strictly adhered to, due to maturity levels, health issues and potential potty training problems that take up precious rehabilitation time.

      4. No female dogs in season will be accepted. If your intact female comes into heat while at CPC she will be sent home and the training will be completed after the dog's heat cycle has finished, which is about 3 weeks.

      5. If your intact male dog will lift his leg inside his own kennel there is a chance he will not be accepted for training at CPC. The reason is that the dogs' kennels are giant metal cages and if a dog urinates outside of the kennel it will get into other dogs' kennels and on the food bins that are located right next to the kennels. Some intact, dominant male dogs will even urinate on other dogs and this is just not acceptable behavior.

      6. If your dog is not TOTALLY housebroken. CPC will NOT accept your dog for the board and train program. Dogs that live outside and can go potty whenever and wherever they want are not considered housebroken.

      7. You must bring a new, unopened bag of your dog's usual food. Please bring any other food/supplements/vitamins your dog may be eating. CLICK HERE to view supplements/foods that CPC may feed your dog while he/she is in training. Please contact CPC with potential allergies your dog may have!

      8. Please bring any and all medications, including monthly heartworm prevention, that your dog may currently be taking; please include all instructions.

      9. Please bring your dog's regular collar with tags on it. If you do not have the tags the Rabies certificate will show proof of that vaccination.

      10. Please limit toys, bones, etc., to a minimum. One or two of each will do just fine. Please do not bring rawhide chews, rope toys, stuffed animals or any toys/chews that are smaller than a tennis ball (unless you have a very small dog) CPC furnishes real bones, Nylabone® and Kong® toys for all dogs and provides tennis balls for playtime.

      11. Please do not bring kennels, dishes, beds/blankets or anything that is not listed above. CPC is not responsible for lost, stolen or chewed leashes and other personal items.

      Miscellaneous Information

      1. The Basic Obedience, Aggression Rehabilitation and Behavior Modification B/T requires your dog(s) to stay with CPC for at least 28 days. Visitations by owners are heavily discouraged due to heightened levels of separation anxiety that dogs suffer when they have to watch their owners leave more than once. If this occurs CPC will have to start the bonding process all over again, which will take away from the number of days actually spent training your dog. If you can't stand to be away from your dog for the required length of time, then the Board and Train is probably not the program for you. If this is the case, the Private Lesson Program is suggested and CPC will instead teach you how to train your own dog. (This is not recommended for Aggression Rehabilitation)

      2. You will more than likely pick up your dog from CPC on the 28th day of the B/T, unless your dog requires a longer stay. Your dog must not view you as his/her 'savior' from training, so it is of utmost importance that you perform a proper greeting when you are asked to enter the training area - NO TOUCH, NO TALK and NO EYE CONTACT. If you show excitement when visiting your dog for the first time in a month he/she will view you as a 'littermate'. True pack leaders do not get 'excited', they remain calm and assertive at all times.

      3. If your dog requires a longer stay at CPC there will be no additional charge to you. Many dogs require over 4 weeks to become fully rehabilitated/trained.
