Your dog will NOT be accepted for boarding without this information AHEAD OF TIME. If you show up with your dog for boarding and CPC has not already received the proof of vaccinations you will be turned away!
A) Distemper booster - usually includes vaccinations such as Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and sometimes Leptospirosis and/or Coronavirus.
B) Bordatella - also known as 'kennel cough' - Vets are now suggesting Bordatella is given every six months, regardless if your dog is boarding or not.
C) Rabies - You must provide current, official Rabies certificate (or a copy) - Rabies tag is also requested, but not mandatory. [STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT YOU BE ABLE TO PRODUCE A RABIES CERTIFICATE].
Vaccinations can cause fatigue, listlessness and sometimes subtle illness in animals. Please do not wait until the last minute to get your dog properly vaccinated.
If your dog requires vaccinations before boarding, please try to get this done at least 5 days prior to dropping your dog off at CPC.
If your dog has been placed on any kind of 'doggie downer' (Prozac, Clomicalm, etc.) or other behavior altering medication, please have your vet contact Suzi to discuss this important issue. 303.995.0132.
Proof of Clean Fecal Sample Required
Proof from your Veterinarian is mandatory and must be faxed, emailed or snail-mailed BEFORE your dog is delivered to CPC for boarding.
Your dog will NOT be accepted for boarding without this information AHEAD OF TIME. If you show up with your dog for boarding and CPC has not already received the proof of clean fecal sample you will turned away!
The fecal exam should be done 10 to 15 days prior to your dog's stay at CPC. If you wait until the last minute and it turns out that your dog's stool is not clean, CPC will not accept your dog for boarding until another fecal sample is tested and you are able to provide proof that it is clean.
If your dog has internal parasites, some medications can take up to 10 days to fully clear/clean the dog's system.
Your dog must be free of fleas and other parasites, both internal and external BEFORE staying at CPC.
You will be financially responsible if your dog infects/infests any other dogs at CPC.
To have a stool sample tested, simply take a marble-sized piece of your dog's FRESH stool (no older than 3 hours), take it to your vet and ask for a 'fecal panel'. This will rule out parasites, such as Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, Hookworm and Whipworm.
What to Bring / Not Bring
PLEASE BRING YOUR DOG'S FOOD IN ITS ORIGINAL BAG! It does NOT need to be a new, unopened bag. Please bring enough food to last two days past the date you are supposed to pick up your dog from boarding. Please do NOT bring your dog's food in any kind of container other than it's original bag. We do not have the space to store food containers.
Feel free to bring your dog's usual treats. Please DO bring treats in a new, unopened bag. CPC gives all dogs a treat EVERY time it enters its kennel. Sometimes treats are placed on top of meals or used during training. Eating a lot of treats your dog is not used to can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea.
Please do NOT bring any extra food supplements or raw or canned food. Your dog should be just fine without these items for the short stay at CPC, unless that is all your dog is used to eating, or your veterinarian has stated otherwise. Please let us know in advance!
Please bring any and all potential medications your veterinarian has prescribed for your dog and please include all instructions. NOTE: Preventatives such as, Frontline, Advantage, Program and Pet Armor are NOT MEDICATIONS and can be skipped for one month.
PLEASE DO NOT ADMINISTER FRONTLINE OR OTHER FLEA TREATMENTS TO YOUR DOG RIGHT BEFORE YOU BRING HIM/HER FOR BOARDING / TRAINING! IT MAKES THE ENTIRE KENNEL AREA, AND OUR HOUSE, STINK FOR DAYS!
Please bring your dog's regular collar with tags on it. A current Rabies certificate to prove your dog has had this vaccination is required, whether or not you have a Rabies tag for your dog.
Please bring DISPOSABLE bedding material! ONE bed and ONE blanket (or towels) for each dog. Dogs without beds/blankets will live on concrete, plastic (grass in the spring and part of summer) and dirt. The blanket provides 'nesting' material atop the bed. If your dog destroys or makes a potty mess on its bedding material it will be disposed of in the trash. DO NOT BRING Grandma's quilt or two hundred dollar dog beds!!! Costo and Sam's Club sell quality, large dog beds for usually no more than $30.
NOTE: Most dogs seem to enjoy rolling in the very fine dirt here in the mountains and end up getting VERY dirty, so expect a dusty, dirty dog on the day you arrive to retrieve him/her.
Please limit toys, bones, etc., to a minimum. One of two of each will do just fine. Please do not bring toys that can be easily destroyed by a bored, anxious or nervous dog, such as stuffed animals. Kong® and Nylobones® are the best.
Please DO NOT BRING rawhide chews, rope toys, stuffed animals or any toys/chews that are smaller than a tennis ball (unless you have a very small dog). CPC furnishes antlers, real bones, Nylabone® and Kong® toys for dogs that are interested and tennis balls for play time. If your dog has a specific toy for playtime, bring it along!
Please DO NOT BRING kennels, dishes, water buckets or anything that is not listed above. CPC is not responsible for lost, stolen or chewed leashes and other personal items. If your dog destroys his/her own bed or blanket while at CPC these items will be removed for the remainder of the dog's stay.
No dogs will be taken in or sent home on Sundays or holidays. No exceptions!
Only dogs from 10 months to 10 years of age will be accepted. This rule is strictly adhered to, due to maturity levels, health issues, potential stress issues and potty training issues.
If your dog has never stayed at CPC before, you must have him/her checked in for boarding/training between 8am and 12pm on the day of drop off.
No intact female dogs in season will be accepted. If your intact female comes into heat while at CPC she will either be sent home to you and training will continue after the heat cycle (about three weeks), or if possible, she will be taken to Deer Creek Animal Hospital in Littleton, CO - 303.973.4200 - www.dcah.com
If your intact male will urinate inside his own kennel, he will NOT be accepted for boarding at CPC.
If your dog is not TOTALLY housebroken, CPC will NOT ACCEPT your dog for boarding. Dogs that live outdoors 24/7 and can go potty whenever/wherever they want are NOT considered housebroken.
WARNING: CPC will do everything in its power to see to it that your dog is very well taken care of, but please know that a boarding kennel environment can cause stress in a dog. Many dogs will not eat meals in their usual manner. Your dog may lose or gain weight while at CPC, or somehow receive minor cuts/bruises that the trainer does not catch.
CPC does not have the time to brush your dog, or its teeth, on a daily basis. Once or twice per week will suffice for a few days/weeks.
Daily Boarding Charges
Daily boarding charges are $50 per day per dog, no exceptions, no multiple-dog-discounts.
If your dog is picked up BEFORE 10am on the last day of boarding, you will not be charged for that day.
ALL BOARDING COSTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL ON THE FIRST DAY OF BOARDING, unless other arrangements have been made prior to your dog's drop off.
Please ask about the potential use of the 'catch pen' for times when a trainer is not available to take in or relinquish your dog. Click to view the CATCH PEN INSTRUCTIONS.
We accept cash or check/money order made out to 'CPC' or credit/debit cards via PayPal through email.
You will be asked to sign a new Boarding AGREEMENT every time your dog stays at CPC.
You will be asked to sign a Boarding CARD every time your dog stays at CPC.
You will ALWAYS be asked to show proof of current vaccinations and often a clean fecal sample.
